 Fire Departments merge and become

 "Central Jackson County Fire Department"

Announcement released May 2011


The Vancleave Volunteer Fire Department and the Fontainebleau Fire Department officially merged on April 11, 2011.


 The new name for the combined Fire Department is Central Jackson county Fire Department.


The Board of Directors for each Department have joined to form a new Board.  Members from previously Fontainebleau Board are Edward Flagg, Kurt Ulrich, Justin Butler, Tim Anderson.  Members from previously Vancleave Board are Ann Milazzo, Allen Tew, Steve Samples and Deanna Cole-Bickham.


The firefighters of both house met at the Fontainebleau Community Center on April 11th to vote on the merger.  The vote was unanimous in favor


of the merger by the Vancleave Board, the Fontainebleau Board and the firefighters of each house.

 


The Chief for Central Jackson County Fire Department is Mike Belton.  Chief Belton's father was a founding member of the Fontainebleau Department and firefighting is very near to his heart.  He has taken on the responsibilities of keeping both houses and all equipment in order.


Assistant Chiefs are  Randall Green of Vancleave and Edward Flagg of Fontainebleau  Safety Officer Tim Anderson is also the Operations Treasurer for CJCFD.

 


Paid firefighter Captains are Nick Balius, Terence Scott, Randall Platt, David Tew, Justin McMillian, Wayne Emile Jr., Anthony "TJ" Johnson, and Austin Stone.  


There are 31 Firefighters, 5 Probation Firefighters 5 Support and 1 Jr. Firefighter Ms Meloyde Platt.

 


In the past our firefighters have participated in several local events including the Christmas Parade and Farm Day at the Arena.


The Vancleave Fontainebleau area will be greatly served by the merger of these two great firehouses.  Please take an opportunity to stop by either or both houses and tell these brave men and women thank you for the work they do 24/7 to keep our community safe.

 


And don't think for a minute you can't become part of this wonderful team.  Volunteers are an indispensable part of the Firefighting team at every event.  Passing our water or giving a supporting word are all needed and appreciated.
